stability issues
Q:
I feel like my 26 lb 14 month old daughter can rock her Svan to such an alarming degree (during not so infrequen tantrums!) that it has become unsafe. I have tightened all the bolts and lowered the foot plate. Have you ever heard this? Any ideas?Does the new blue tripp trap chair offer greater stability?

Wow, you have a very active little one! I haven’t heard of a Svan rocking before, especially since they’re designed with safety and stability in mind. As an alternative, the Tripp Trapp does provide great stability because of the unique shape of its base, and you can still use it for many more years to come. If it’s any peace of mind, know that both chairs meet and exceed US and European safety standards.
Meanwhile, you can take these steps to make sure your Svan high chair is adjusted properly, which may not help with tantrums, but will make it as safe as possible:
Make sure the seat depth is set so the safety guard fits snuggly against your daughter’s body to provide both support and safety. Make sure the seat height is adjusted so your child’s arms are bent at a 90-degree angle to the table. Lastly, set the footrest height so that your daughter’s knees are also bent at a 90-degree angle.

The height of this high chair is 34" but will work with a standard dining room table which is 30"h. The seat can be adjusted lower to accomodate your baby as they get older, but will not go any higher (in case you wanted to use it for a breakfast bar or island). It's the perfect high chair if you're looking for longevity, style, and functionality.
