MDB Jenny Lind-Style Crib

Sweet and sophisticated, the Jenny Lind crib has been a favorite for well over 100 years. This style of crib, characterized by its knobby, vertical bars around all four sides, adds a touch of nostalgia and an heirloom feel. But its timeless look will still fit right in to most decors. Now with a fixed-side rail and four platform heights, it beats out its old-fashioned ancestors in one important way: by easily converting into a toddler bed (kit optional and sold separately). An amazing value for such a great piece of furniture! Click here for more product details .

A: Transitioning this crib to toddler bed is as easy as 1-2-3! First, make sure your mattress is at the lowest setting. Then, simply remove the adjustable front rail and attach the conversion kit. Yes, the Jenny Lind-Style Conversion Kit (http://www.giggle.com/p/19879/Jenny-Lind-Style-Toddler-Bed-Conversion-Kit.aspx) is sold separately for eighty dollars. What a deal!

The assembly for this crib is super easy, taking no long than 45 munutes. The conversion kit comes as one piece that you just simply screw on to the crib. Easy huh?!

Staff Answer
A: Well, first off, since babies love to chew on cribs, the Jenny Lind comes with a phthalates-free teething rail that protects the crib and your baby from each other. But even if your child does find a nice, uncovered piece of crib to gnaw on, not to worry: the paint is non-toxic. For further peace of mind, you should also know that this crib not only exceeds JPMA standards, it also goes through annual paint tests.

bedding for the Jenny Lind
Q: Can you advise which mattresses and bedding options will go with the Jenny Lind crib? Also are there organic options?

Staff Answer
A: Sure! Since the Jenny Lind is a standard-size crib (30” x 54”), any standard-size crib mattress or bedding will work. The only mattress that won’t fit are the custom mattresses made for mini cribs or oval cribs.

We have three great organic mattresses to choose from: the Coco Mat Organic Crib Mattress, the OMI Latex Mattress, and the OMI Organic Cotton and Wool Mattress, which is the one our founder, Ali Wing, chose for her son. There are plenty of great organic sheet sets to choose from. We absolutey adore the George Crib Set and the Celestial Parade Crib Set, which are both made from organic cotton and would match beautifully with the Jenny Lind Crib. And of course the giggle Better Basics Fitted Crib Sheet is a healthy and affordable baby basic.

If you're interested in other organic products, check out our Organic Checklist (http://www.giggle.com/registry_jumpstart_checklist.aspx?oid=719)!
