A: Unfortunately, the Maxi-Cosi Mico Infant Car Seat isn’t compatible with the BOB stroller. But, the highly popular Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat is! (http://www.giggle.com/p/22179/Graco-SnugRide-Infant-Car-Seat.aspx?s=1&keyword=graco)

Any available frame?
Q: I'm planning to buy maxi cosi mico and looking for a frame to put the car seat and use them both as a 'stroller'. Since I don't want to buy a complete stroller yet (we have to move abroad before the baby is even 4 months old). Is there any options for this car seat?

A: Unfortunately, there is no stroller frame that is tested and compatible with the Maxi Cosi Mico car seat. If the Mico is your choice, we highly recommend keeping the UppaBaby Vista stroller in mind. The frame weighs 18.6 lbs, which is pretty lightweight for a full stroller. Used in conjunction with the Maxi Cosi adapter, you will be able to use the car seat and frame as your stroller for the early months.

Vista Stroller: http://www.giggle.com/p/26719/c/557/cl/579/UPPAbaby-Vista-2010.aspx?s=2&keyword=579

Vista/Maxi Cosi Adapter: http://www.giggle.com/p/27589/c/557/cl/579/UPPAbaby-Vista---Maxi-Cosi-Car-Seat-Adapter.aspx?&s=2&keyword=579

If you do decide to go the route of car seat adapter + frame prior to making your move abroad, be sure to get the Vista Travel Bag (http://www.giggle.com/p/24927/c/557/cl/579/UPPAbaby-Vista-Travel-Bag.aspx?&s=2&keyword=579) to protect your investment. Happy and safe travels!

Taxi Use
Q: I am wondering if this car seat is right for me. I need to be able to have it buckled into my bugaboo and then move it in and out of taxis. Would I need the base for these uses or is that optional? The base makes it much heavier and I wonder if it is just as safe to use it without the base. Thank you!

A: Great question! While the base is always recommended, especially for long car trips, you are absolutely able to use the Mico car seat without the base for a quick taxi ride. The Mico has slots in the back so a seatbelt can be used to secure the car seat in place. You'll be able to move the car seat back and forth from taxi to stroller without having to worry about carrying about the base too!

A: It isn’t so much difficult, but it can be a tad tricky. For extra security, there are two clips on each shoulder strap that you must clip together first, then you secure the buckle between your baby’s legs. Most infant car seats don’t have clips on the shoulder straps, but it’s worth the extra effort for added safety!

Stop by any giggle location and we’d be happy to show you how it works!

A: Both the Maxi Cosi Mico and the Graco Snugride are top of the line as far as safety is concerned, and the adapters are both equally easy to use, so you can’t go wrong either way! The Maxi Cosi adapter for the Cameleon consists of two individual pieces that snap right onto the frame very easily. Once those are secured, the Maxi Cosi will click into the adapters, and off you go! The nice part about these adapters are they can be stored easily in the Cameleon underbag. The adapter for the Graco snaps onto the Cameleon frame just as the Maxi Cosi adapter does, except the Graco adapter is one piece that looks like a square. It’s a bit larger, but just as easy to use.

A: You're right, the Maxi-Cosi does indeed come with the car seat base. The extra base is for parents who have two cars so you can keep one installed in both for easy travelling. It makes switching between cars a sinch!
