As for extra bases, there is a specific one that is designed to fit the Platinum, so make sure you don’t end up with the base for the SnugRide 35, which is a larger car seat. A: The main difference between the two is that the Graco SnugRide Platinum is suitable for children up to 22 lbs and 29 inches, whereas the Graco 35 goes up to 35 lbs and 30 inches. You’ll probably want to get the Graco 35, since you can use it longer. But the one reason you might choose the Platinum instead is that it’s been around longer, so it’s compatible with more strollers (meaning you can get an adapter that lets you transfer your car seat right onto your stroller, instead of having to move your sleeping baby). Just make sure that whatever stroller you choose is compatible (the popular Bugaboo Cameleon, for example, is not) and know that, either way, you’re getting a great car seat!

A: Yes, the Snugride can most definitely can be used without the base.

Just place your car seat, baby and all, in the middle portion of the back seat (rear-facing of course). Then, simply place the lap belt around the car seat almost like it’s a person and click it into place. There are even slots on the sides that you can thread the seatbelt through for safety. It’s super easy!

Even though installing the base and clicking the car seat in is the best-case scenario, it’s just not always possible when you’re in and out of cabs all the time. But using a car seat without the base is better than no car seat at all!

A: Yes! This car seat adapter is compatible with Graco SnugRide, Graco SnugRide 32, and Graco Safe Seat models. Platinum is just referring to the style.
