I heard there is a risk with this product
Q:
I read this review on target.com posted by a SIDS educator. Could you please verify/confirm?
The American Academy of Pediatrics and Consumer Reports do not recommend sleep positioners or wedges for healthy babies because they pose a risk of suffocation. Parents may want to consult with their pediatrician before purchasing one.
I do not think a store like yours should carry a product that can be a potential health hazard because when I come to your store, I assume you would have done enough due-diligence

A:
We absolutely do a ton of research on every product we carry, and are committed to only carrying the best. We are also aware of the American Academy of Pediatrics' point of view on different product categories. However, there are several respected points of view on this and many parenting product categories. And while we commit to only carry the best product for every parenting lifestyle, we also commit to not selecting our parents' lifestyle choices. For example, there are many great organizations that adamantly believe breastfeeding is a must. However, there are many instances where moms need to use bottles. To support those choices which we view as personal and made on a case-by-case basis with all the facts of their particular situation, we carry "best of" products to support each of those needs.
Similar to the debate between breast-feeding and bottle feeding is the one over co-sleeping vs. separate sleeping. For a variety of reasons, many parents today do choose to co-sleep. We sell the Snuggle Nest as one of our favorite solutions for safe co-sleeping and carry it specifically for that consumer. The sleep positioner is an optional feature of that product that many of our customers choose not to use. Pros and cons of that usage are something we defer to each parent and the particular needs that they may have and discuss with their Pediatrician.
